I got to shake Ali's hand once while departing a flight from Atlanta to Greenville-Spartanburg. Granted he was older (around late 80s), but he wasn't close to 6'3". Maybe 6'1".Very sad. May he rest in peace.
I heard a great Chuck joke a few weeks back:
Chuck was at an event with a lion tamer and asked if it was safe to pet the lion. The tamer took Chuck into the cage, told him to be still, then brought the lion over. As Chuck was petting the lion, the lion started to growl. The tamer said "ok, crouch down a bit and slowly walk backwards so he won't see you as a threat". The lion then crouched down and slowly walked backwards.
To Temery's comment. Bruce Lee's speed and skill were other worldly. I'm not sure Chuck was that much bigger (maybe 3+ inches taller, 35 or so lbs heavier) where Bruce couldn't have overcome it. It wasn't like Chuck was 6'3" 225 lbs (Ali's size when he and Bruce sparred).
A final comment. At the end of a tour of the Coliseum many years ago, at the end of the tour, when the guide asked if there were any questions I raised my hand (because I had to be that guy) and asked if she could show me where Bruce Lee fought Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon.
Bruce Lee took down the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The bigger they are...Very sad. May he rest in peace.
