If you haven't seen the long ago movie 'Woodstock' it is worth tracking down. Havens' performance
was one of the best at that festival.

Trivia question [no fair peekingat the men's board]: Richie Havens had a one time cameo role on a sitcom years ago. What show was it?

Here is his "Freedom" from Woodstock. Per Wiki, he was the opening act and was told to do a long set because many of the other acts were having trouble getting to Woodstock. He did like 3 hours, finally running out of material. So he took an old spiritual "Motherless Child" and did this to it. The rest they say is history.

Saw Richie Havens in concert twice. Once as a lead off for Neal Young. Once here in PA at a small annual concert festival. Loved him both times.

Rest in peace, Richie, you are free today.

He was a unique talent, and I will miss him.
