Can anyone find a performance of "Rock and Roll is here to stay" by Danny and the Juniors? It's circa 1957.

Today is one Mr. Alan Freed's birthday (1921). The father of Rock-n-Roll. He was last brought down by the Payola scandal and died and early death at 43 (rock-n-roll you know).

In his honor let's see if we can come up with songs with "Rock and roll" or "rock" in the title. We'll see how cool you guys are here. (not holding my breath).

I'll start....Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin

Zeppelin with video.

The late, great Brother Dave Gardner allowed as how Little David was the first rock and roll artist, "because he taken a rock and rooollled the giant".

Many consider this to be the first "rock and roll" song, or at least the one that took rock and roll "mainstream."

'Tis the season: "Jingle Bell Rock", Bobby Helms in 1957
