God what a terrible year for musician deaths- Maurice White, Glenn Frey, David Bowie and now Prince.

May he rest in peace.
 
Prince was a huge part of growing up in the 80's
I remember having a red corvette and partying like it was 1999!!

A genre-crossing mash of James Brown, Hendrix, and Sly & the Family Stone. MJ had nothing on this guy. :(
 
Went to see a Prince concert once..........Outstanding performer.
 
One of the most underrated musicians/ performers in our lifetime. Intelligent, knowledgable and extremely creative. And a very private man.

As a musician, 2016 has been a very bad year. Many icons leaving us all too soon.

RIP Prince.
 
I just hope it is not drugs; be so anti-Prince. Found in an elevator in his home.

He reportedly has had the flu recently. Had been taken to a hospital last week.
 
Damn, it has been a tough year for musicians. He is another one who was WAAAAY to young. RIP!

Would be totally contrary to the Prince we saw for it to be drugs, which is why I said that. Yes, he has had the flu and maybe a the bug settled into his heart or the sac around the heart or...whatever. Why I still worry about Geno, frankly.

The flu is definitely a serious illness. I had a friend die of the flu and she was only in her early 40's. Whatever the reason for Prince's passing, it is terribly sad.
 
When hearing about his death today, it was said that he wrote Manic Monday, made famous by The Bangles in 1986. That was the first time I had heard that.

That's great! I hadn't seen that one. I was more familiar with this one, which also has some real talent on the stage.

TMZ is reporting that it wasn't the flu a few days ago but rather a drug overdose.

Dammit, that was incredible stuff. I guess I should have gone to one of his shows. DOH.
 
This is just brutal to me, so I have an idea how this must be for those close to him. He was one of my all time faves. Enough. If ever anyone, then you Prince RIP.
 
He also wrote 'Nothing Compares to You" made famous by Sinead O'Connor.
 
He wrote a bunch of songs made famous by others, including "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks, "I Feel for You" -- Chaka Khan, "Jungle Love" -- The Time and "Glamorous Life" by Sheila E.

What an incredible talent.
