I've been doing a lot of hiking, and like to listen to music, take pictures, and use a trail mapping app. The problem is I can only go two hours on a full battery.

Any suggestions on a portable battery charger?

I use Rokform Battery Charger but they are very pricey $99 (20% promo code)
iPhone Battery Charger

I had to get this one for extended trips away from an outlet; it has multiple charges.
Also attaches easily to a phone case.

Mophie Juice Pack may also be an option. I like the Anker stuff too

How quickly do these charge the battery? Or is this something you plug in and keep plugged in?

My sons and I have a Solove 20000 and use it often - hiking, their construction business, one is an advanced live concert photographer - does a good job, will re-charge phone/tablet simultaneously quickly, does not weigh very much. I suggest whatever brand you buy you get one with sufficient power, I have found the greater the power the quicker the re-charge time.

.-.
2nd any of the lipstick sized Anker models. I have one and it's great.

For hiking, get a battery case.

If it's an iPhone, get the Apple battery case. It'll roughly double battery life and it's the least hassle.

Follow up question: I have an iPhone 5s that works fine. My only complain is the battery life.

If I were to get a new iPhone, would the battery life be much better?

I bought a 6s plus and the battery life is significantly better than my previous 5s

What do you want the most?

1. Ergonomics - Light weight, small form factor
2. Power - ability to charge multiple times over the course of a weekend or merely top up your current battery. We talking day hikes or weekend mountain treks?
3. Cost - how much do you want to spend? Or not a factor

I 2nd the Anker endorsement. I have a couple and they are great..

If you aren't worried about size, this is the way to go:
Anker | PowerCore 20100 | Black

All the juice you'll ever need.. only $39.99

I use an Anker product.
Anker | PowerCore mini | Black

Larger models available.

I've had an Angler 1200mAh charger for three years. Works great. I can take it on a golf course to charge my cell phone since my phone has a golf GPS app that I use. I'll also play music during the round.
4-4.5 hours later my phone has 100% charge and the Yankee has about 50% juice.
I've used it to power phones and tablets on long flights or car rides and it always works.

I went with this suggestion. The battery case is not at all cumbersome, and more than doubled battery life.

Didn't even know such a thing existed.
