OT - Parking in Providence

Is there any free parking near the Dunkin Donuts Center? Never been to Providence for an event. Please help if you can. Would be very much appreciated.

Yes, find a spot on the street and park there. Walk to the Dunk in the cold hoping you don't get accosted by drunk guidos looking to beat someone for fun. Sit through the event wondering if you will find your window smashed when you return. Walk back to your car in the cold hoping you aren't accosted by now even drunker guidos looking to beat someone for giggles. Get into your car with a smashed window and no stereo and drive back to Ct. Enjoythe cool March breeze ripping through your car while singing show tunes for entertainment. Bask in the glow of saving $7 on parking all the way there.

Hmmmm. Makes sense why the garages would mention security guards now. My car does have an alarm system but why take the risk. I can handle the cold and the guidos. Thank you for the tip.

Event parking is $10. You do not want to try to park on the street. If you just want surface parking the union station lot is $10 and has good pre game bars/restaurants.

It's like $2 to parking in the mall garage for the duration of a basketball game at the dunk.

If you had just put "BEST Providence parking" in the subject, this thread would be into 20+ pages. Then again, there'd be guys making claims that Cranston or Barrington actually have better parking. Or that there's no decent parking to be found east of the casinos, so forget Rhode Island altogether.

You can park anywhere you want in Providence for free. I'm assuming you have CT plates? CT residents have sovereign immunity in Rhode Island as part of a compact between the colonial governments back in the day. We agreed to not make fun of their accents.
