OT: Other non-UConn Pro and College teams UConn fans support

UConn is life. Football, MBB, WBB and Hockey. It's what we watch before anything else.

I grew up in CT in a house full of Long Island raised brothers and I went opposite in every other sport.

NHL - Islanders (house full of Rangers fans)
MLB - Red Sox
NFL - Cowboys
NBA - Celtics

In the last five years I've added Premier League (Wolves) and F1 (McLaren/Piastri) to my watch list and follow those more religiously than anything but UConn.

UConn men's basketball unhealthy obsession

Then in order- Knicks, rooting for UConn players on NBA teams, Yankees, UConn football, Giants, Bears, Cubs.

UConn basketball is a totally different level of fandom. I've lost so much interest in the NFL and college football in recent years. After UConn basketball tennis is my favorite sport to watch.

.-.
UConn men’s hoop
Chicago Bears
NY Yankees
UConn football

I’ll watch the Bulls and Blackhawks when they are good
I had a kid go to U Iowa and a kid go to UCincy so I’ll watch their football games
As a kid growing up I loved watching boxing matches

Pats, Yanks, Rangers, Knicks, Penn State football, living in PA I don’t root against the Flyers or Sixers since they’re largely irrelevant and I’m close enough to Nova that I wouldn’t mind seeing them good again. Still can’t stomach Eagles and Phillies though…

I find myself checking the Spurs, Grizz and Trailblazers box scores for our guys. Tyrese, Andre and Hawkins less so due to their diminished roles.
Went to see T New with the Mad Ants last year and got to meet him which was awesome. He is with the Iowa Wolves currently.

During Kemba's days in Charlotte, I would get league pass just to watch him. Dell Curry and Eric Collins made a good broadcast, even when the on-court product was lacking. And folks in NC treated Kemba like a God (deservedly so).

Can't get into any other NBA until April tho. Too boring by comparison.

I am pretty much a one sport, one team fan. UConn men’s basketball although I do root for the Red Sox during baseball season. Peter Karmonas and John Rowland combined to break my heart in 1997. Loved the Whalers. No longer a hockey fan and haven’t watched a football game other than a UConn game in at least 20 years. I do follow the Spurs, Trailblazers, Grizzlies, Nets, Hornets, Bucks and 76ers in the NBA.

Tristen deserves a real chance in the NBA, he's too good for the G league.

absolutely Sanogo too. Just needs the right place.
Adama gave up the G league grind to get paid in Europe

Oops. Forgot the Pelicans

In order...

UConn men's basketball - I never miss a game and travel back to the east coast for at least 1 game a year.
Golden State Warriors - have lived in SF for the past 13 years and they play a beautiful unselfish style of ball. I watch most games.
NY Yankees
NY Jets
- but my NFL interest has severely waned. I'll still catch a game here or there, but I find myself appreciating the freedom of a Sunday untethered to the TV
Portland Trailblazers - I like what they're building in Portland and a big part of that is Clingan.

Diehard
UConn Men's Basketball
New York Mets
New York Giants

Big Fan, if I miss a regular season game I'll live but follow religiously

New York Knicks
New York Rangers
UConn Baseball

Casual Fan

Tottenham
UConn Football
UConn Hockey
UConn Women's Basketball

NY Mets - first
Stony Brook CFB/MBB/LAX/BASE - second
UConn MBB/WBB/CFB - third
NY Giants - Casually/Fair-weather

I am surprised by the number of posts who say they dont like the NFL as much as they used to. Im in that camp too. I'm sure the numbers show growth etc but the amount of big time sports fans in my life and on here show that some people may be losing interest

I was thinking about this the other day. As college hoops fans, we're kind of like the U.S. after World War II, in that we throw our whole-hearted support behind any teams we vanquish, a la Japan and Germany. Thus, this season, I'm a big fan of BYU, Illinois, Kansas and Florida ... at least until March.

I'm also a big Seton Hall fan right now. Go Shaheen.

CT born and bred, back to a time when HCC 100-level tickets were $2 through the Aetna Men's & Women's Club

NBA - favored the Lakers growing up and admired Celtics, and other top teams during that era ... became a Heat fan when Lebron was there. Root for any team with Huskies.

NFL - grew up a Vikings fan, that faded ... tried to root for the Commanders for 2 decades (when living in the DC area), and now root for the Dolphins - both efforts have been futile to date, although Dolphins tailgates hit different, ha

MLB - grew up a Yankees fan, went to a bunch of Nationals games, that's faded too ... been to a few Marlins games, beautiful stadium, 90% empty ... watching baseball bores me these days, but still love playing in old-man (peaked in High School) U-Trip (USSSA) softball tournament from time to time

NHL - loved the Whalers, adopted the Caps (their practice facility was across the street from my crib in Arlington, Virginia - bunch of players were in residence too). Now also root for the FL Panthers ... not really a hockey fan (even though I used to deliver the Hartford Courant to the Howe's, and, skip school sometimes (statute of limitations is up) to watch the Whalers practice at the Glastonbury rink back in the day))

NCAA Volleyball - Nephew plays for UCLA, and while he already has a ring (2024) and went to the WH, he hasn't seen court time, yet - hopefully this year!

All Other Sports (including the above) - no other teams, but will watch any kind of playoffs or notable tournaments, including Puppy Bowl

MBB (the only sport I follow passionately and attend regularly) - UConn at #1, always ... also root for Duke Men's Basketball #2, deal with it

NY Giants
Jaguars
Yankees
Knicks
Islanders
ND Football and Lacrosse

1 Uconn men bb
2 Yankees (a very distant second)
3 NY Giants (almost not worth mentioning any more)

Uconn men is an around the year sport for me (BY etc.) Once a very rabid Yankee and NY Giant fan but ownership for those franchises has seemingly done the impossible by producing lackluster at best performances to disasters. That's OK. Uconn more than makes up for this
in ever increasing excellence and championship caliber performance.

I tried (really tried) to get back into the Giants this year but the last straw was the field goal kicker missing the ball and kicking the ground.

UConn football and basketball are far and away my main focus.

Pats and Bucs. I’m a lifelong Pats fan and love having Drake May—pumped to be back. When Brady went to Tampa Bay, I became a Bucs fan too. Then they got Baker Mayfield, who just happened to be my favorite player, so my Bucs fandom has continued. It also helps that my son and several of his friends grew up Bucs fans so we can watch together.

Whalers (that loss never leaves me)

Don’t really care about baseball anymore but get roped right back in when the Red Sox are in the playoffs.

Don’t care about any particular NBA team anymore. I just follow UConn alums. I enjoyed the Celtics when Ray was there. I was a Laker fan in the old days and I hated the C’s. Now I like watching old Celtics games and seeing Bird and Co out there. I also love when the Knicks are good.

Bills and UConn mbb are 1a and 1b. A CLEAR top 2. Bills are the only team I’m as/more passionate about and heartbroken about.

Atlanta Braves are close but probably solidly behind those 2. I root for FSU football as a 90s child, and my NBA team varies depending on who my favorite players are.

Larry Johnson/Zo days I was a Hornets kid. Iverson days I liked Philly. Always rooted for MJ’s Bulls. Then Ray Allen and Kemba days I was a Celtics fan. Today, I’m a Spurs fan.

The only other team that comes close to my UConn mbb fandom is Arsenal in the Premier League. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'm celebrating two titles next year 🤞

besides them I follow the Knicks, and a local school to me, Marist. They haven't really been good at all since I was a kid, tho. Shout out the legend Jared Jordan

I’m really only passionate about UConn in all sports especially BB, football, baseball and ice hockey.

I’m also very passionate about the Red Sox,

Since I now live in Florida, I follow Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Bucs and Jags but not life or death like UConn and Sawx. I started following Bucs more closely when Brady joined and love watching Baker play.

Celtics are only followed during post season.

I used to be Patriot fan until Kraft used Hartford to get their new stadium. Karmanos broke my heart as well with the Whalers.

Shout out Point God Sean Kennedy

I root for the New York Mets, New York Jets. UConn football and UConn mens basketball are the teams I'm most passionate about.

Mets, Giants football, Rays, Red Sox (okay I am a Tampa - Boston snowbird), Lightning, UConn and BC hockey, any NBA team that has a UConn grad

UConn men’s hoops first and foremost. UConn football. UConn women’s hoops for the big games. Pro sports it’s Yankees and LA Chargers. Celtics in post season. I get hooked into PGA on weekends whenever a tournament comes down to the final day too.
