thats amazing... Powerball! Someone is actually going to win over $1,000,000,000.00 (before taxes, blah blah blah)

Did you take a "gamble"... atleasr $2.00?

That's too much money for one person to win. :) Even after Federal Taxes you're looking at getting over $500 Million Dollars.

For those who win jackpots in the high eight figures and up, if they're not already wealthy it represents such a huge change to their life as to render it unrecognizable. Everything changes, like their circle of friends and close family (both usually get much smaller).

Some people navigate this change with reasonable aplomb; those are the ones we never hear anything about in the news. Others take it quite badly.

geesh where do you start... where do move to if you're a "regular" guy, with the really really wealthy? Do you trade in your Altima for a Bentley?

perhaps an endowed BY seating section at our various home sites ;-) it would need to be appropriately plush.

Still maintain my charitable act plan for how to handle the funds of a hundred million plus win but it would need upgraded for this amount of money.

Back seats for the upper bowl at Gambel.

That's definitely empirically true, but if someone gave me the opportunity, I'd still take those odds.

someone in Tennesse won, maybe Geno... also Chino Hills and Florida, other popular locations of Husky Nation

Lump sum payout was around $930, so $310 million for each of the 3 winners, before taxes.

I imagine they'd be taxed at the highest rate, 39.6% plus any state tax. Florida and TN winners don't have any state income taxes. So they are looking getting about $187 million. Still probably enough to live on for awhile.

The question I ask my friends at times like this is, "What would you do with the winnings?" Everyone has the standard replies: "I 'd pay my bills as far as the money goes, buy a new home, buy a new car, travel, give money to my kids, give money to my friends, etc." Okay, then what with all those millions left over? Nobody has an answer. What say you, BYers?

I'd just hand it over to my wife, same as now, so nothing would change.

Well I tried. Bought 5 tickets. Didn't win a thing. Gotta go to work today. Oh well!
