I never liked him, but his commentary this year drives me even more nuts now than ever. Some of his comments are so obvious that they are a waste to words. Losche (sp?) throws this pitch clearly right down the middle of the plate for a hit and McCarver's commentary is, "His worst pitch of the night." Really!!!! I would have never drew that conclusion if I hadn't heard him tell me that.

Then he says stuff that are nonsense. I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something like this. "2 and 0 is the best count to jam the batter." Okay, why???? He says these sort of things and then never qualifies why nor does Buck even bother to ask him why.

I'm not one who yells at my TV, but with the family far from earshot, I yelled out, "Shut the h*ll up!" Maybe I'm in the minority here and many of you love this guy, but I'm at the point where I should just turn the sound off...or better yet, watch the debate now.

You are not alone. He comes up with what he thinks is a real gem before the game an then proceeds to beat it to death, have a glass of water and continue beating.

If I say that your observation is McCarverian, does that answer your question?

Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver both talk to the audience as if they were third graders watching their first baseball game.

Actual Joe Morgan call during a Sox-Yankees game in 2005:

"That was a fly ball because he hit it in the air."

No! Did he really say that? Was his next comment, "That was a ground ball because he hit it on the ground."?

Well put.

On a completely unrelated note, SF has to have some of the freakiest looking baseball players I've ever seen. That beard on Wilson doesn't even look real. He should dye it red and become the 3rd member of ZZ Tops...there are just two wierd bearded guys in that band or is it 3? Buster Posey looks like Opie Taylor and then there's Crazy Eyes Hunter Pense. They are a gritty bunch and easy to root for. H*ll of a pitching staff. Giants-Tigers have the makings of an exciting post season. Both teams can pitch & hit. SF has an edge I believe in the field. I would not be shocked if it comes down fielding since the other two aspects of the game might be a wash.

ZZ Top has 3 members. 2 of them have crazy long beards. The third member's last name is Beard.

I thought there were 3 members but only 2 with the crazy beards. I didn't know that last name of the member w/out the beard was Beard. Not sure what to make of that little piece of trivia.

I dont see McCarver lasting more than 1 or 2 seasons. I think it was time for him to retire 4 years ago. ESPN stepped it up and finally got rid of Joe Morgan, i thought FOX would follow up and do the same with McCarver. I actually like Miller as a play by play announcer, but Dan Schulman is one of the best in sports right now and he has been a good replacement.

Yup, sure did. It was a Sox-Yanks game and Bernie made a fairly routine catch in the outfield. I guess Morgan felt the need to make chicken salad out of it but it ended up being it after all.

Joe Morgan and McCarver are the worst for me.

And as a Yankee fan... Waldman and Sterling make me want to stab my ears.

McCarver in his infancy on air was very good. His explanations of the game, the strategies from a ML catchers view were solid and color was real good. Years ago though he suddenly forgot when to stop talking because when you talk too much, BS starts appearing for the most part and this is what has surfaced over the last decade or so with Timmy boy.......then working with the arrogance of Buck makes it worst - the guy is just not likable.

John and Suzyn suck, plain and simple. Sterling just gets off listening to himself and Suzyn uses explanations of the game she learns from everyone else, sometimes even when they don't fit the ply at hand. She's pitiful! How they lasted this long I have no clue.........
