OT: NFL appeals deflategate ruling.

Justice awaits, but not in the manner you are hoping. Justice will be confirmed.

The decision will not be overturned. While Judge Berman tore the NFL a new one on the record and in open court over evidence, his judgment pointed out 3 very large inconsistencies in the NFL's process as compared to their CBA, past precedent, and the Accused constitutional rights, which supersede collectively bargained agreements. Berman was very careful not to mention evidence in his ruling.

The NFL's (and by inclusion, Goodell) actions since last January illustrate to anyone who has been paying attention that Brady is not the shady one. I also find it interesting that you link to a Yahoo article and not an outlet such as ESPN who is in the NFL's pocket. Yahoo has been at least impartial, if not more on the side of Brady.

...and they'll lose again.

LINK to Brief

Substantive decisions need only be grounded in the CBA; procedural decisions need only avoid caprice...

Scanned it. It's a decent brief, but the attorney's were tasked with putting a dress on pig. I look forward to the Brady team's response.

Lol Pal. So the CBA says the NFL can make up evidence and punish for anything they want regardless of reality??? Lol you are on fire today.

It's really a shame that Goodell is putting himself first ahead of the good of the league. This is all about reputation salvaging at this point. I think the entire league wants this nonsense to go away and choosing to appeal and, thus, choosing to overshadow this entire season with continued stories about PSI levels, cell phones, etc is damaging to the league as a whole. The majority of opinions made public by players/owners all point towards the absurdity of this entire league investigation and punishment.

What this also accomplishes: an attempt to distract the Patriots from on-field success. The amount of "SpyGate" garbage that somehow mysteriously resurfaces before every Patriot Super Bowl is further illustration of the league's desperate attempts to force parity. Instead of celebrating this run of success for what it is, it is choosing to tarnish its own reputation by trying so hard to take away the great accomplishments of the franchise.

I get it - if I wan't a Patriot fan myself I would hate them too for the same reasons I hated the 49ers and Cowboys growing up. But at some point, the league would benefit MUCH more from portraying Brady/Belichick in a positive light instead of trying to undermine them after each and every win.

Goodell is just a well compensated stool pigeon for Irsay/Jones/Bischotti/et. al. When you think of the lemons that he has floated the last few years.....NFL Team in London, 18 game regular season, deflategate, Goodell is the marionette, not the actor.

At $40m/year, its not a bad gig.

I think Goodell is just a puppet of the owners who want revenge on the Pats and (wrongly) feel that the leagues authority was diminished by the ruling. The league can still punish, Goodell can still arbitrate - he just doesn't have carte blanche to make up as he goes. There has to be a small measure of truth and fairness to the disciplinary process.

Meanwhile, Greg Hardy has now upped his antics by assaulting coaches on the sidelines (when he's not assaulting women off the field). But yeah, by all means let's continue to talk about frig fracking ball pressure and its impact in a 40 point blowout.

Who the duck_k is William T. Santiago?
Why does a Lieutenant Junior Grade with nine months' experience and a track record for plea bargaining get assigned to a murder case? Is it so it would never see the inside of a courtroom?
Were you in Dawson and Downey's room 5 minutes after that meeting?
I strenuously object?" Is that how it works? Hm
Are you Markinson?
Why wasn't Santiago packed?
Did you order the code red?

(And totally unrelated!!!)

Don't you know about the bird?

The appeal won't go through, and you'll be left sucking your thumb and crying like a little baby. Wah, wah, wah!

I usually don't think much of childish replies like this, but I wholeheartedly support this one to the fullest!

And yes, I got the satirical nature of it.

God, I love that quote.

Dammit, I forgot one: "Got any kung po chicken?"

When I went to Indy for the Pats game, there was a group of Colts fan tailgating with a tent called the "Deflation Station" - they hung a bunch of deflated balls from the tent, right where the Pats bus went by to go into the stadium. Was pretty funny.

And then proceeded to embarrass themselves:

I'll have to concede, while the whole deflategate thing is ludicrously overblown, it does lend itself to some hilarious jokes/memes.

Another positive: this whole thing has exposed some of the great hypocrites of the NFL, from Jerry Rice, to Chris Carter, to Chris Mortensen, to Mark Brunell, to Ray Lewis, etc. It also revealed the straight shooters, Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young, Rich Gannon, Ditka, Cowher, etc...

I really would like the whole "gate" suffix to go away though. Couldn't be more annoying that every controversial situation has a "gate" suffix attached to it. Would like it to go away.

I noticed here in Jersey that you can now get Pats' Jerseys, just in time for Halloween. I guessing there will be a whole lot of Deflategate costumes.
