Bob Diaco will be the new Head Football Coach. He was the defensive coordinator at ND. Seems like a good hire, only time will tell.

In general the football board seems happy about this.

BTW: A UConn verbal at this time....signing day for football guys is in early February....Arkeel Newsome
of Ansonia High is playing for the state title on Friday at 7...CPTVSports has it.

A running back....he puts up 200-250 yards per game routinely....in the state quarterfinals he ran for 492 yards in 26 carries.
That qualifies as a Yikes!

My guess is that the new coach has already contacted him...if allowed.

Fantastic pick…really effective and beloved at ND
The heart and soul of the much improved Irish D
They are really sad to see him go

Watched Bob Diaco's press conference, he's a high energy coach and if the players buy into his program and processes he'll be successful. Media and fans should love him and he'll get time to build the program.

Bob will be able to bring the big stage recruiting to UCONN and UCONN has a ton to be proud of with its practice facilities, campus and a newer stadium that needs to be enlarged ASAP........Recruits drive tickets sales and sales drive sponsorship's...$$$$$.............Hopefully, we will look back in 3 to 5 years and say WOW!!!...........Like him or not, Randy Edsall put UCONN football on the map. Coming from a Penn State guy, I am very proud of this school and I have 3 kids who graduated here with BS and MBA's.....They saved me $200 K plus going here instead of PSU.........

He has a bit of the Geno Jersey cockiness in him, doesn't he?

I didn't see the presser or any highlights of it but just reading the articles this morning about his first day as our football coach I am psyched enough to check whether I have any football eligibility left. BAM....he hit a home run!

Newsome ended his HS career by leading Ansonia to an easy Class S title. Had 259 yards on 34 carries. Despite the huge stats, he is not regarded as a great 1A prospect. Not sure if he had any other scholarship offers at this level. Marcus Outlaw of NFA, who is headed to BC, is regarded as the state's top RB in terms of college potential.

Can Coach Diaco lead us out of the wilderness that is the AAC??

I hope so. This level of competition is not good for UCWBB. ACC is where we belong.
