Interestingly, the USA Today story called Spikes a "strong defender against the run". Apparently that does not imply to automobile accidents.

Yup, he's very much into the run! I can hear his lawyer now: Why would he call 911 about hitting a deer if he knew he hit a car and intended to run! Oh, I don't know, but let's speculate shall we: 1. He was so sloshed he believed the family's car was a deer? 2. He fled, called his lawyer, and the lawyer said call the police and say "..." which will allow me to argue no felony purpose to evade. 3. He didn't have to call his lawyer, they were both drunk in the car. 4. His first instinct to call 911 was good, but then he realized his career was toast if he did the right thing and the highway sign a little bit down the road said Deerfield.

And of course I meant to write "apply" or so I implied.

Yeah, for awhile I pondered, 'cuz you're so smart, then having exhausted the pun potential got to the key board culpritry thing.
