OT - NCAA screwing over Transfer to Tulsa

Looks like the NCAA is at it again. In this instance they are not only showing their heartless side, but once again retro-actively applying rule changes. Here's the link.

Khari Harding transferred from Auburn to Tulsa to be closer to his ailing father and maximize his dad’s chances to watch him play live next fall.

Under a new NCAA amendment ratified this week, the latter apparently won’t be possible. The NCAA eliminated immediate eligibility hardship waivers for Football Bowl Subdivision transfers.

The rule change is effective immediately, so it doesn’t matter that Harding — whose father, Corie, is battling cancer for a second time — has been taking classes at Tulsa for two months before the amendment was ratified.

“This pill is very difficult to swallow,” Corie Harding told The Oklahoman on Wednesday evening.

This is out and out disgusting on the NCAA's part (not that there has ever been any reason to believe that they would behave with logic and reason). I wonder what there enforcement of this new rule would be if it impacted a P-5 school?

Is the NCAA that worried about, what must be, a huge upward trend in "false hardship" occurrences? If so, build verification in to the rule methodology like a real organization of hard asses;.......................... the Military.

What? Did this happen, maybe once, to a Saban or Meyer? Who in the hell would manufacture cancer for Mom or Dad in order to get playing time? Forget the ethical and moral issues. The karmic considerations are frightening!

Some of it's mean-spirited rules say more about the NCAA that even it's most hateful critics. If not so sad, it'd be comical.

Right. If the transfer was from Tulsa to Auburn, he would be able to play for Auburn the next day. The NCAA is nothing more than a tool for the P5 to use against the non-P5.

In a way, we have our answer in that a player is being punished for going from a P5 to a non P5. Speculation would be that if this was the other direction he would be allowed to play immediately.
