I've dedicated my life to walking the peaceful path. I've spent years tirelessly purging my mind of aggressive thoughts. I've rigorously retrained my brain to not act on base animal instincts. I meditate daily. I'd like to think I'm a peaceful man.
...but damn if I'd like nothing more than to punch that f!cker square in the jaw.
That is exactly what they are doing. They don't want to punish Miami (if they really did the investigation would have ended a while ago and 'Tha U' would have gotten the death penalty) so they needed to find a loophole.
I tend to agree with this. Unless Shapiro was unaware that aspects of his case were shared with the NCAA, then so what? If Shapiro gives his consent, then why is this a conflict of interest? Any lawyers explain this to me?
My understanding is it's not so much a conflict of interest as the fact that the NCAA does not have subpoena power, so it's wrong for them to indirectly employ an attorney who effectively does have the subpoena power (because of the ability to require people to testify under oath in another case) to extract information.
This is due process small potatoes compared to the ex post facto BS the NCAA pulled on UConn, but I guess whatever makes the NCAA look like a bunch of incompetent turds is for the best.
Ahh, I see. So they actually did this in a court of law? I thought it was just info gleaned from working with Shapiro's attorney. With Shapiro's knowledge. Because presumably any bankruptcy case is open to anyone. But if the way they conduct such a case is skewed for another purpose, I can see the problem.
"Emmert said any information obtained in this method would be thrown out."
