From the press release: This venue change comes as a result of a New York Yankees game that had to be rescheduled due to rain. To ensure the best available location was chosen, an extensive search took place with Pratt & Whitney Stadium being selected as the top alternative.

Some of you clowns wouldn't know good news if it slapped you in the face.

Just curious what percent of NYCFC season ticket holders will actually make the trek to the RENT. Locally international soccer friendlies have done pretty well, but this is a game with pre-sold tickets to Yankee Stadium.

Good question. I'm going to go. Hopefully other CT soccer fans will also go to make up for it a little.

According to the seating diagram put out by NYCFC, they are only going to sell the lower bowl. What is the Rent's capacity for that? It would be great to get a "sell out" for the game on such short notice.

Not so sure about a sell out, but how is 1 entire month short notice? If NYCFC's management is smart, they jump on contacting all CT youth, high school, and other programs.

Kraft won't allow an MLS team to play at the Rent and Garber pretty much laughed at the idea. For that reason I won't attend.

How does Kraft get control of this site since the Rent is somewhat equidistant from both Boston & NYC? Just because the Revolution's name is preceded by "N.E." shouldn't give him automatic rights to this area. Or, is this an MLS assignation?

If he ever builds his SSS in Revere or somewhere closer to Boston he would forgo his rights but we'd still never have a chance at landing a team.

You've never marketed a team have you? Teams like to have their schedule ready months before the season opener to get group sales going and promote individual sales. Here they have 1 month to get the word out in a foreign territory for which they have no marketing database (it's not that easy to contact "all CT youth, high school and other programs") and hope they will be responsive. Most groups also plan months in advance to get signees, collect money and plan the outing. All this on top of a reduced season ticket base (how many will travel to Hartford) spells a tough time selling tickets in one month.

20k should be attainble. They have 6 different supporters groups and I'm sure most if not all will make the trip. Plus other local CT fans of NYC will show and just general fans of soccer in CT. A Saturday helps with travel.

Should be an important match as well. NYC in 2nd w/46 pts and dynamo in 3rd with/37 pts
(different divisions)

The more people the better. I'm not a huge fan of MLS due to shutting out our MLS chances with Kraft, garber, and yankee ownership.

The rent is awesome for soccer.

Too bad we can't get some action for the 2026 World Cup.
44 cities have bid to host. Unfortunately, the rent is not there. Could have hosted a group stage match. That woulda been awesome.

Must be 40,000 to host group stage
Must be 60,000 for qtr and semis
Must be 80,000 for opening and finals.

No sh|t NYCFC doesn't have months of advance time Sherlock, but it's not as if they aspire to fill King Jung-un's world largest stadium or even Michigan Stadium. With reportedly limited expectations to fill even the Rent's bottom bowl and likely hopes to merely contain financial losses, any reasonable organized group should be capable of meeting NYCFC's minimal goals.

On available info alone, 1-2 weeks is adequate time in 2017 for NYCFC's respected marketing team to aggressively reach local media, soccer groups, etc. and to initiate reasonable, limited-budget promotional activities within a month to accomplish their bottom bowl target. Now, if NYCFC foolishly sets ticket prices too high ... all bets are off!

Are you always this arrogant and speak in double-talk? First you claim that one month is not short notice (an absurd notion to anyone that has actually tried to market a event) and now you spin it around and claim that it's enough time because expectations are low. Then again, why are expectations low - because it's on such short notice and they'll only be able to do minimal marketing.

BTW, prices are already set and range from $25 (end zone) to $60 (chairbacks) excluding $100 for club seats and $150 for a limited number of sideline seats.

Will NYCFC playing on a nice pitch put them at a competitive disadvantage?

They've certainly adjusted to their cramped setting at Yankee Stadium. They scored twice over the weekend on short pin-ball passes through traffic (one was probably a mis-hit shot). I know nothing about Houston, but if they have the speed to move the ball on the flanks of a full-width pitch, that would definitely play to their advantage.

Arrogant, hardly yet surprised a marketing guru hadn't considered facts he raised, e.g, your reference to NYCFC only hoping to sell bottom bowl tickets. Regardless, NYCFC Rent prices created as big or a bigger challenge than relatively short time for sales.

I agree that the prices were a bit eyebrow raising. Still, I bet the crowd surpasses expectations.
