Time and again it's been shown that the Regents were gutless, and that they F-ed up their handling of this from the start.

My initial argument was that Pat Forde is a hack who wrote that tweet without any respect for McNair's grieving parents or anyone else. "The AD is back. The Coach is back. Jordan McNair is never coming back." He's totally milking that tearjerker for everything it's worth. I'm surprised he didn't include a soundbite of his voicemail or a photo of his parents cleaning out his room.

You can use a lot of words to describe the board of Regents. "Stupid," "tone-death," or "clueless" would all work. "Gutless" strikes me as a strange one given that all they did was make their lives a million times harder.
