Bingo. I guess according to them, any win, even against the Sisters of the Poor, a school with 25 students, half of who are on the hoops team, would still be a good win."A great, great game for the Lady Vols!" This is one of the puzzles of the Tenn fans. Not all wins are true wins. If you are still playing the same crappy brand of ball the alarm bell should still be ringing.
Unlike you I get no satisfaction seeing a once proud program slowly become another Delta State. As a Husky fan I remember how these two programs TOGETHER made women's basketball what it is today. Without their rivalry in my opinion there would be no WNBA, which I believe was created by the wave of popularity these two teams engendered. Slowly we've also watched that popularity decrease in the public's eye since that rivalry was discontinued by UT. Clearly the networks feel that popularity could be rekindled as witnessed by Doris Burke's recent remarks. I would LOVE to see these two teams at the top of the rankings. I would LOVE to see UCONN whip their asses in the finals again. And again. Wouldn't you? Instead we see UT playing an antiquated double post offensive system which places all the responsibility on their guards to bring up the ball (with little to no relief from full court pressure!), make the perfect pass to overrated post players into a crowded zone defense, create off the dribble against stacked 2-3 zones, shoot high percentages from the perimeter, create offense from their defense. On and on. Something Geno would never do. As stated in another post: How will we react when Geno retires and UCONN starts to struggle?Bingo. I guess according to them, any win, even against the Sisters of the Poor, a school with 25 students, half of who are on the hoops team, would still be a good win.
Let's be honest - Vandy is not a great team. Very average. Yet with a minute to go, Vandy was within 3. Just a fun year all around for WCBB. UCONN is doing great, Tennessee is in the toilet, and the rest of WCBB has lots of parity...
