Stacy Lewis started the final round of the LPGA Founders Cup 4 shots behind leader Ai Miyazato. Going head to head Lewis put up a 64 to beat Myazato by 3 strokes. Going head to head with Miyazato, Lewis birdied 3 of the last 4 holes.

Not only did Lewis win the tournament, but she is now the #1 ranked in the world. That alone is an amazing achievement but it's even more amazing when you consider what she went through to get there. If you are a fan of women's sports than you should get aquainted with Stacy Lewis because she doesn't get the recognition she deserves.

An excerpt from her bio -
5’5”...Started playing golf at the age of 8...Credits her parents ‘for encouraging me to play even after having back surgery’ as the individuals most influencing her career... From the age of 11, Lewis wore a back brace 18 hours per day for 7-1/2 years to correct curvature in her spine from scoliosis, removing it only to play golf…Had back surgery during her senior year of high school and redshirted for one season before joining the University of Arkansas women’s golf team…

Thanks for posting this Buff. You beat me to it.

Stacy is an amazing competitor. It is really good for American golf and the LPGA to have an American ranked #1 again. The Asians have dominated the Tour for most of the past ten years. Stacy is a wonderfully humble person and hard worker. She has earned this honor; and I hope she stays #1 for a long time. She is way more than "deserving" of the honor.

Plus, she was hit with a 2 stroke penalty after her round on Sat. which took her from two behind to four behind. Great comeback..

The penalty was because her caddy "tested the sand" in a bunker. She commented after her win that part of what inspired her was that she didn't want her caddy to feel guilty if she lost.
