clothing detergent... and which brand do you use if you use any at all!

everything goes to the cleaners? are they still in business or do you "hand wash" everything?

Liquid. My top three are:
First choice is always Gain cause it makes your underwear smell like apples.
Second choice would be Cheer.
Third choice is Tide.

For fabric softener I go liquid as well and it's always Downy.

Reading through this I realize I have zero brand loyalty.

Gain is strong... too strong for sensitive skin, especially on the undies

How often do you smell your underwear? Or are in a situation where others can smell them?

It's actually a super strong scent with Gain. You can smell it as you are putting them on LOL. I always smell my gym underwear before hand. The moisture wicking underwear do a great job of keeping your man parts dry but that also means they retain a ton of sweat and you have to wash them like twice before wearing them again.

You would have been better off saying "she (he) loves the way they smell after a nice evening out"

I'm the parsimonious type. I get Arm & Hammer powder. It's CHEAP. As yet no one has come up to me with, "I'm noticing your outfit could be cleaner and lacks that pleasant apple scent".

Consumers Report says that the liquid version is more effective since the powder needs a lot of stabilizers and such that somehow affect the cleaning ability.

We are VERY allergic to Tide in our family and use All Free and Clear on recommendation from the dermatologist.

I'm not to brand loyal, I think whatever Costco carries, including their own brand - but always liquid.

And yes to Nan regarding allergies - I don't think it was Tide, but I used some brand because we needed to wash clothes on a trip, liked the smell and bought some more - and Amy and I both broke out. So sticking to the usual.

I do Purex, Arm & Hammer or any of the "cheap" brand that may be on sale at Shop Rite for $1.99... Tide cost too much, my clothes don't get that dirty

Neither---I throw them away or my wife burns them--and then we go to Good Will and buy more for 50 cents.
Long johns are meant to be worn from November to May--aren't they??? My wife thinks otherwise. silly girl!
