Hurley said he wasn't interested in going thru that over the summer, Pitino took it a step further and said he's not interested in a job that is "win NBA finals or you're out". Jay Wright already said no... Maybe NY should have thought of who might be the replacement before firing a HC who took them to the conference finals. Dallas, Houston, and Minnesota have blocked NY from talking to their current HC's.

Seems like NY over estimated the interest in the position. Maybe they can land one of the assistants from Charlotte...

Knicks blocked from talking to Kidd, Udoka, Finch

Heckle and Jeckle probably should have kicked some tires and gauged interest before firing Thibs. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised after all these years of a horrible front office and even worse team owner.

They just canned a guy that took them to the conference finals in the first time forever. And by-the-way, you need to keep the star players dad. No decent coach with experience wants that. Reminds me of the Red Sox. They fire the guy that won them a title and all they can get are stiffs to replace him.

You can't hire a coach during the Finals no one knows anything.

Pitino passed on that job the same way that I passed on being Jessica Alba's boyfriend.

The guy they want is under contract elsewhere. They don't seem to have a problem with news leaking that they're asking around so this may be a tactic to keep people from knowing who their preferred choice is (which could keep the price from being ridiculous).

I can't imagine anyone who has long-term aspirations to have a successful career as an NBA coach would work for Dolan.

The head coach will be someone trying to resurrect their career or someone going for a money grab.

They called about speaking to Quin Snyder of the Hawks and were also denied.

So let me get this straight, the Knicks fired their coach and didn't have a definitive plan to replace him. They thought they were just going to call around to other NBA teams with coaches in place and get someone to let them talk to their coaches under contract? Isn't that kind of strange?

I think they want to create the impression it's an open search. IMO it's gonna be Malone, and was always gonnna be Malone.

Are there any other NBA coaches that are CCSU alumni like thibs? Might as well go back to what worked before…but without admitting you were wrong obviously.

Everyody's been in awe over what terrible team owners the Adelsons are. Dolan needed to remind us he's been screwing up what should be a dominant franchise for decades.
