I vaguely remember that his high school team played DC area DeMatha...a traditional powerhouse.
DeMatha had a couple of talented 6'7" kids and the team prepared for Lou Alcindor [at that time] by having their 'bigs' use tennis rackets to block/alter shots in practice so their guards could get used to that kind of length.
