Start loading up on gasoline, bread, eggs, milk and non-perishables.

Y'all about ready to have a hurricane party. Joaquin's a-comin'.

Way to early to tell.

Wait until Friday or Saturday before going nuts.

I hate standing in line for bread and milk! Don 't want to run out of scotch though...
and that can happen fast!

hit the atm to get cash out... stock up on beef jerky and pemmican!

.-.
I"m good. A tornado took down all my older trees two years ago. I learned about storm prep the hard way.
Now I have a big supply of gasoline, a generator, a satellite dish, 2 cases of MRE's and plenty of backup beer.
Football goes on. No matter what.

No, I'm pretty sure panicking is probably the right call.

No panic here. Plenty of propane for the generator. Most of the trees that could come down taken out by Sandy - 8 days of no power and two of can't get out with that one.

Friday afternoon a quick trip to pick up some items - Jack Daniels for openers. Gas up cars by Friday.

Then I'll sit back and relax.

Folks on the Jersey shore are very nervous as even a near miss can cause damage due to the storm surge. They are using snow plows to build temporary sand dunes on the beach.

Work (NYC) just send out a note to be prepare to work remotely if needed on Monday. The building I am in now is 3 blocks from the East River in lower Manhattan was closed for 6 months after Sandy as the flood water made it to the second floor.

As for me, I live on the 'hill' side of town and not the 'river' side, so I don't have many concerns as we weathered Sandy and Irene well with just some small tree damage. I will bring in the patio furniture this weekend to be safe and will top off my gas cans for the generator. Worst case, I am stuck working from home for 3 weeks like I was after Sandy as my prior job was in Hoboken.

Fingers crossed. The last forecast I saw has the European model pushing Joaquin out to sea (this was the model that got Sandy right), the American model has it following the coast closely and making landfall in Nova Scotia, and the British model puts Joaquin on-shore on the Jersey coast basically as Sandy II.

My wife deals with this stuff for a living. Their models this morning look better with it swinging out to sea.
