@EvanDaniels: Jermaine Lawrence asked Cincinnati for a release, per a source.

@jeffborzello: Source confirms to @CBSSports that Cincinnati forward Jermaine Lawrence has asked for his release. First reported by @EvanDaniels.

Bummer for Cinci.

Given the load of playing time this fellow is about to come into, you have to think someone is in his ear about moving. Watch for where he ends up. Cronin is likely sniffing around for any signs of tampering.

We got a commitment last night from Octavius Ellis. He was one of the guys involved in the fight with Xavier and due to the public pressure was dismissed from the team, went JUCO and now is back. He was a first team JUCO AA and is a similar size and build as lawrence.

There were rumblings that Lawrence was considering leaving after the season ended.

I always wondered why the token cinci fan on the board had a picture of a L'Ville player as his avatar... Until I just now expanded the pic.. He blends right in with the crowd... from a distance it appears as if 24 is dunking the ball

I wondered this as well.

Why was Cronin always chewing him out ? Lawrence was a very talented frosh , too bad for cincy

It is the perfect picture. Chane Behanan, who is from Cincinnati and committed to UC initially, getting dunked on in his homecoming.

That is how he coaches and Lawrence's high school coach said that is why he'd be the perfect fit here because Lawrence needs to get tougher. Unfortunately, Lawrence has some people in his "inner circle" that are steering him in the wrong direction. It's a shame because he is actually a good kid that did his best to fit in to playing the 5 spot out of necessity last year.

It appears it is Lawrence's handlers that are claiming he's leaving....

Cincinnati forward Jermaine Lawrence talking transfer, but hasn't talked to Bearcats http://dlvr.it/5cqSc1

I used to think schools were being real douchey for not granting transfers, but the more you hear about tampering, it is reasonable to be suspicious about motivations when a kid that is close to a guaranteed starter bolts.

I always felt like Behanan was overrated... like his skill set is great but he's essentially a 6'4 power forward? Works great in High school and can work at the college level... not so much at the next level. doubt he gets drafted.

Agreed. Some of these kids have no apparent reason to transfer.
