So what do you all think of the interview on ESPN? I have long thought that she will end up as a sports commentator, and this pretty much clinches it in my view. Gonna be one to see for a long time, probably.

Diggins as a member of the 3 to See certainly fits well as the Rebecca Lobo in comparison with the WNBA's original big 3 marketing plan.

True, Scotter, lots of big games..no titles, however, and no Olympic gold, at least not yet. When Lobo went into the WNBA, she obviously had a title, and, if memory serves, had a gold medal already. In general, I'm just pokin' fun at the media's fascination with "Diggs", tweets and all. As much as she has accomplished, I think it's a bit premature to place her on par with Lobo - and, that's been the problem all along with Skylar, the rush to canonize her based (not entirely) on her social appeal.

Are you sure? I assume all 3 to See had to cooperate and participate and few have promoted her Twitter presence as much as Sky Digg.

3 to see in college was on point... in the W she fell short, oh well! ESPN continues to push it!

career moves now... and what is she saying on Twitter that has posters still taking about it? I just don't get it... some haven't gotten over SD.

we know she'll never be Lobo, the basketball player... but this is about commentating

My point was you blamed the media without any clear basis to back up your comment. She was a willing participant just like with her tweets or else it could not have happened.

Diggs pro career didn't start well, she was sent to the bench early in the season and replace by the kid from Kansas, she will have a place on the sidelines somewhere, don't at all be surprised if she is on the sideline of NBA games soon, one: to get the attention of men watching the games, 2: to try and bring more visibility to the WNBA and increase viewership and fan base, they have to get more man to watch and go to WNBA games, and she I would believe is part of the plan, same for CP and some others

She cooperated by participating in spots as requested by ESPN? Will the UConn nominees refuse to appear on promotional material for ESPN?

Honestly, I never followed Skylar on twitter. What sort of things did she do to promote her twitter presence?

It wasn't a criticism of her it was a statement of fact.

Apparently, you aren't. You have a habit of tossing crap and providing no substance to back it up.
that's nothing new... just curious to why only you reply. you're smarter than that

DC,

It's really quite simple... Two things drive this... the first derives from the substantial(some say excessive) PR efforts that surrounded SD and the second centers upon SD's own behavior after winning on the Huskies home court.

The first was certainly, in no small part, generated by the media but also, in no small part, generated by SD herself via her continued participation with those PR campaigns and then further generated by her own Twitter activity. The second is reasonably seen by some as a character flaw in that they see her post game behavior as adding insult to injury. In other words, when you defeat your opponent, be gracious, don't act to 'rub-it-in.' Case in point... DT's punching of the orange was organic and occurred within the confines of the game itself... SD's post game declarations were obviously "post" game and certainly insulting to the fans within earshot.

So, what some are saying is that some others seem to have a rather odd need to 'canonize' (good word Pinot...) a player rather than just to accept the player for her/his own accomplishments. SD's reality should be good enough without burdening her with qualities and attributes she doesn't actually enjoy and when this 'canonization' habit of ours gets out of hand, the push-back you sense should be expected.

SD hasn't done anything lately but the "hate" still lingers... just strange! and this talk about Twitter, do you "follow" her, what is she say or showing? Who are first to mention Twitter, the announcers. Its not like at the end of interviews she's saying "one last thing, follow SkyDigg on Twitter". some are too closely attached to everything wcbb, scary to me

When a person chooses their actions they are also choosing and defining their reputation. And by definition, reputations linger on until enough of a history of a new behavior contradicts and overwhelms the earlier impression. So, simply said "lately' doesn't really matter... whatever the last impression was is the impression people will have at the current time.

I can't say that I care for the use of "hate" in that it is a bit like dropping the 'rapist' or 'racist' label on someone... it pretty much signals the end of any value in a conversation... It is also far too common in it's usage and as such, all too boring. I do hope we drop that little bit of belly button lint from our language soon.

No, I don't follow her or anyone else for that matter... I don't remember which of my IT guys that it was that set up my account but day one they did set me up to follow one twitter account:: Wholefoods... Why Wholefoods... I really don't know... Actually, I've never found the need to tweet my first tweet... Although my 40+ year career in tech has included designing the very underpinnings of the software used by Twitter, at my core I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to using tech. The use of it just doesn't interest me much... My dream retirement is to live out my years in a place where technology developed after 1950 doesn't exist.

Now this last statement of yours is a bit startling to me... DC, you a digital 'Kilroy'... I've almost come to expect to find a post of yours at every site and forum I visit... you seem to be everywhere... I sometimes wonder how many sites that I've never visited that have your footprints on them... Isn't that suggestive of a fan that might be attached to everything wcbb a bit to closely?

maybe Im reading this wrong... if you're saying you see "ME" (or maybe people like me, dont understand fancy digital lingo) on other sites thats a lie. and the "everything wcbb" is the players "every move even personal"

but anyways do as you want, think as you wish... I still think its old and boring. kid is broadcasting but somehow folks gotta take silly swipes, glad to see Diggins maturing

Diggins as a member of the 3 to See certainly fits well as the Rebecca Lobo in comparison with the WNBA's original big 3 marketing plan.

Good comparison. People seem to forget how badly Lobo's first season in a watered down WNBA went, and that was a couple of years removed from college.
