Not to incite hysteria here, but imagine that Cincy leaves the AAC and the Big 12 doesn't come calling. Who would we want to go after to make the AAC as strong as possible? I'd definitely be interested in adding someone like Western Kentucky. Would also be interesting if we dropped Tulane for noncompetitiveness and maybe added either Georgia Southern or App State. WKU and App State would definitely strengthen football in the American.

ODU or UMass. Maybe Buffalo. That's it for me. Maybe UNC Charlotte. None of the schools you mentioned hopefully.

Why though? Just to have regional teams? WKU won 12 games last season! I see UMass, I'd just personally never go for ODU and definitely not Buffalo

All these mid majors winning double digit games are their current coach being poached away from being 3-9, playing in an empty stadium. ODU fans support that school. UMass is close by and that matters. 3rd best program in the state of kentucky? No thanks. Directional GA? No thanks. Appalachia State? Really?

If you did this on the basketball
board you would be hung immediately.

Never ever, ever, ever gonna happen!

Never!!!

probably toledo, consistently a good team, not just a one hit wonder this season. Also maybe marshal? both teams that have been consistently in the upper echelon of non power conference teams. again though this is dooms day type stuff.

Western Kentucky would be a great add. Not only are they in Kentucky, they bring Missouri and Illinois.

Why take one directional school when South Alabama is out there looking hot too?

To the people complaining about the idea of taking a one directional school--you do, uh, realize that ECU, UCF, and USF are (gasp) one directional schools. It's not like the AAC is above that...we're basically picking from the runts of the litter.

Isn't WKU historically a decent basketball program?

I'd say lets grab Middle Tennessee but I'm not sure middle is a direction.

We grab UMass and therefore avoid adding one more backwards airport to our our frequent flier account.

If UMass says no, then we just go straight for comedic value - are there any other directional schools in North Carolina looking for a home? Does Canada have colleges? Maybe a trade school?

PS - The OP needs to be medicated.

Aresco should ask Swofford if they would be willing to allow us to talk to BC for the opening.

UMass would join the AAC in a heartbeat, their football team is about to (is?) be independent.

In the event of a Cincy(and most likely Houston or Fla school) departure UConn just has to worry about UConn. Improve it's football program and fan base, remain a basketball power, enhance the academics and bide it's time. Everyone knows UConn is a Power 5 school not in a Power 5 conference and the next major conference shake up should have UConn sitting pretty as a school with the ability to pick or choose from more than one suitor. For example: someone besides the Big 12 decides it's time to improve their league. Chances are the ACC gets poached. Now does the B1G and Big 12 just sit by and watch UConn get snapped up by the ACC or do they try and make a move first? Another scenario: What happens if the SEC goes after Texas and Oklahoma? Does that open a flood gate of 4 AAC schools being invited to the Big12 and if so does the ACC take the risk that UConn might not be on the table much longer if they get poached again by the B1G?

Isn't UAB bringing back their football team? They were pretty decent until Little Bryant felt Bama was being threatened and decided to try to shut them down. From what I read they're bringing the whole coaching staff back. That would be a nice add to me, but then again I don't know much about other schools outside of UConn.

Army or Buffalo...they are the only choices with airports and some modicum of academics.

Umass is just too close.

I agree we are a P5 not in a P5 as does this entire board, but from what I've seen your statement may be wrong. On the OU board (LandThieves) we are referred to as a G5 all the time. Today we were referred to as losers. Bottom line, only schools in a P5 are universally considered P5, regardless of whether they earned that spot or not. Those of us not in a P5 are thought of as lower life forms, G5. It pisses me off, but I see it a lot. To them, if we were any good we already would have been taken.
