This might be the worst football game in the history of the world.

My TV keeps changing its own channels to try to get some relief from it.

Not even trying to watch. Listened a bit on the radio on the way home from the game, my expectations were confirmed.

duck you, BCS.

The LSU offense was confused in the fourth quarter when, for some bizarre reason, those painted numbers on the field started going backwards.

Can you imagine the smell of that building?

Tens of thousands of southern football fans all sweating pure lard...

Alabama's D has to be considered one of the best of all-time. That said, the BCS is a f'in joke, and it becomes more of a joke every year, which is probably why I didn't watch any bowl games this year.

We know Bama was good, but we'll never know how good without them playing OSU, Stanford, Oregon, USC, or any other team with an explosive offense. Joran Jefferson is just attrocious, I have no idea how he became a quarterback. He might be worse than Johnny Mac.

The Sunday newspaper here had full page color ads saying that all area Academy Sports and Outdoor stores would open immediately after the game- if Bama won with sales on all Alabama Championship merchandise. Sort of a nice, regional black Monday shopping extravaganza.

Don't weep for the LSU fans. Mardi Gras is in full swing and the Saints can make many LSU fans forget their misery if they win another Super Bowl. Plus the FF in in April and Jazz Fest is shortly thereafter.

I can only watch textbook tackling for so long. These teams can play defense, but damn, somebody complete a pass.

Gave up at halftime. Bama's D is impressive.

What the hell do those offensive/defensive lineman eat? Even on TV they look like giants.

Beat me to it. Short memory for UCONN fans. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. BTW, LSU smacked Oregon all over the field. Those high powered offenses have shriveled up when they face the SEC. It's big boy football

I didn't watch a lick of the game on TV, but followed along with people's reactions on Twitter instead.

Knock the medium if you want, but it is perfect for situations like last night. Folks were tweeting pure gold during that snoozefest!...

Alabama did exactly what everyone expected them to do. Hard-nosed, textbook perfect football.

What blows my mind is the offensive game plan that LSU and Miles came up with for the game. Had to be his most uninspired on-field performance in years. It literally looked like LSU didn't prepare for the game at all offensively.

Give credit to Bama. LSU has an explosive offense, they scored over 35 points 12 times this year and Bama made them look like a HS JV team.

The explosive Oregon team had a shot vs the SEC and lost a shootout to LSU 40-27.

Bama or LSU vs anyone else would have been a mismatch.

First game of the year, on a neutral site, LSU beat Oregon.

But they also beat Alabama in AL.

They never played OSU.

Sorry, but the fact that Alabama won doesn't change the fact that they shouldn't have had a rematch. You make a mockery of the idea that every game counts.

Most be a Patriots fan. No respect for great defense? There are about 18 kids on the defensive side of the ball that will be playing on Sunday.

I thought that was a great game, I love to see teams play defense instead of this Madden era of throw all day and cover no one that you see in the Big 12 or Pac 16.

Bama gave up 9 TDs this whole year, Clemson gave up 9 in their bowl game. If you can not enjoy watching defense like that last night you do not like football.

I appreciate/respect good D but don't necessarily like watching it for 4 quarters. Give me a 43-40 barnburner any day of the week.

Same for basketball and baseball, love the offense.

Really? They shut down Arkansas who has Tyler Wilson a potential top 10 pick in 2013, Arkansas put up 40 and 29 against the teams they played in the Big 12. Arkansas had the #15 offense in the country.

LSU put up over 40 on Oregon and WVU, their offense is good, they just played an amazing defense last night.

I understand you probably just follow Big East football and do not understand and have much perspective regarding "Big Boy" football but come on get serious.

I gave up at 9-0 and fired up the XBox. I knew LSU wouldn't score. That Bama D is astounding. On the other hand, OK State or Stanford would have put up more points against either team (and surrendered more) than each could against the other. Agree Arkansas had a very good offense, but it doesn't change the fact that two teams in the same division of the same conference, who had already played, should not have been playing for the BCS title.

That I can agree with, but obviously you cannot take LSU out of that game and Bama proved last night that they belong.

Until there is a 4 team playoff or +1 the system there will be someone "left out"

I know hindsight is 20/20 but LSU should have stuck with Jarrett Lee at qb during the season, im a believer in going with whats working if it aint broke dont fix it, he was playing very well then they switch qbs close to mid season, bottom line though Bama deserves a ton of credit their D was nasty last night.

OK State lost to a 7 loss Iowa St team. Bama or LSU vs OK St would have been ugly. The SEC is so far ahead of the rest of the field.

Just stop with this argument.

Every game does count. Oklahoma State was in the driver's seat to make the BCS title game - all they had to was win out. Instead, they lost to a pretty bad Iowa State team.

They would've gotten absolutely waxed by either Bama or LSU. I'm glad the (BY FAR) two best teams actually got to compete this year for the national championship.

The Big 12 was far and away the best conference in the country this year. EVERY SINGLE computer ranking reflects that assertion. There is no argument. Oklahoma State finished with 1 loss in the best league in the country, they deserve a title bid over an Alabama team whose claim to fame before last night was that they had the best loss all season. Regardless, that stinker was just what we need to get rid of the BCS. Ratings are down, attendance is down, the BCS is the sports equivalent of the USSR circa 1988. It is on the verge of collapse and no one is really sure what is holding it together.

I watched a great Cincinnati/Georgetown game last night. Mick Cronin is the Bruce Weber of the Big East, capable of beating or losing to any team in the league.
