OT: I Don't Get It and Maybe Don't Want To

I'm reminded of a certain scene in the movie Erin Brockovich where Erin is explaining how she got all those signatures when I see this: Jennifer Aniston Is PEOPLE's 2016 World's Most Beautiful Woman!

Leaves me breathless. No talent and no brains. So.....

PS. Yes, the title is screwed up, but there is nothing I can do about it except plead ignorance, like the "beauty"

What I find interesting is that this is not a 22 year old with no talent and no brains but a 47 year old ...

I think People's readership skews older -- not Boneyard old but middle-aged housewives. I'd say they're just pandering to their audience.

Okay, you are into MIL...oh, nevermind. My problem with her is she is a shlock actress who fell into a bag of money called Friends and then had the good fortune to have the love blood vial crazy steal her man. Hell, that was worth a few jillion People articles. So, sure they think she's a goddess. But as an actress, she's just missing the se tape. And a beauty... the nose, the chin, the jaw line and everything below there... forget about it.

It's all about the gals in the grocery store check out. I do like her in the lotion adds though.

I can assure you, I know my place. I think most people including woman have opinions about a variety of things including the sexiest man type things People magazine has. I'm not suggesting I have an overtly high opinion of my looks but that doesn't preclude me having an opinion of someone like her who owes a lot of her fame and financial success, both on the screen and in ads primarily on HER LOOKS! There are numerous men who have had major success based primarily on their looks as well so I don't think this is strictly a chauvinist type thing. People tend to judge based on looks and that's why the BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE have the advantages that they do. Very superficial, I know! She should be happy people judge like that because if it was based on her talent, her career would have been a very short one and her name recognition would probably be zilch, in my opinion. There are many, many women who have had a lot more to offer than does (or did) Jennifer Aniston both talent wise and based on looks but then again, that's JMHO!

Over a decade ago some reputable scientific organization came out with a study the essentially said beauty is measure by symmetry. If you have it and have hair you essentially have it made (course, Sean Connery is an outlier). This symmetry thing is the only thing she has going for her. It is arresting when you see it, but it says nothing for what's inside the pretty head, man's or woman's. More women than not figure it out and rate a sense of humor above every other trait they want in a man. We males are the superficial neanderthals about who we want to drag into the cave and make babies with. The whole survival of the fittest thing and how we recognize who to make babies with has sorta gone out the window though, because the most beautiful women have decided to mate with the trolls with the biggest wallets.

This whole post creeps me out. We are a group that follows 18-22 year old student athletes that have accomplished more in their short lives than just about every poster. To weave gender innuendo and references that focus on physical attributes into posts is, IMHO, inappropriate at best and trolly at worst. Sorry for the rant but I've got to much respect for the basketball program and the majority of the posters to not weigh in on a pet peeve of mine.
