OT: I-84 WB, Asylum Street exit

Wanted to share this for any BYers who drive I-84 westbound through Hartford. Next week, Tues through Thursday, the Asylum street exit will be closed from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is due to the demolision of the "Butt-Ugly 2" building, otherwise known as Capitol West. I pass by that building every day and it is coming down fast.

If you pass by that way, be aware that the exit will be closed and make alternate plans if you usually use it. It is a VERY busy exit in the morning, with The Hartford and Aetna to the West and downtown to the East. The highway could be a mess. You have been forewarned!

I checked the DOT web site and found this:

It indicates the closures will be at night, 8pm to 5am, which makes no sense if you're going to be demolishing a building.

Well, that makes more sense from a traffic sense to do it over night. My initial notice was 8 am to 5 pm, which traffic volume wise made no sense. That must be going to cost The Hartford a pretty penney since they are funding the demolition and turning the former footprint to green space. NOW I know where my missing bonus went. Enjoy the new view. It's on me!
