Rocky I can't tell you how much that story meant to me. God bless his neighbors. WWII Veteran Moore had a difficult start to his life, a difficult Teens, but remained self sufficient ( a product of his age and the world he was forced to enter). No Veteran any where any time who served the USA deserves anything but a proper burial. Where the hell was the VA in this??
I partake of the VA's medical services. Some are great some are terrible. But I still feel that they care. My fellow Vets are there by the thousands--the price paid for our wars is right there and paid in full.

This is an emotional few lines for me, taking many minutes to type. I've said it before, but a society's greatness is measured by how we treat each other. To me, anyone who has defended this country on the battlefield is a hero. The tragedy that was his life was clearly not the measure of this man who refused to let it define him. I'm proud of the citizens who stepped up to give this sweet hero the send off he deserved. When it comes to the treatment of our Vets, this country has a lot of explaining to do.
