I have a friend who asked me if I had any recommendations for a home projection system for TV, x-box, etc.

Any suggestions that would help him make an informed decision are welcome.

Personally, I thought the current large screen TV's got the job done. But I am told there are still some projectors that are worth looking into.

Thoughts?

I had this one
http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-GT750-Projector/dp/B00556F900its more a gaming specific projector that also can play tv/video just like any other projector.
I had it play on a tan painted wall (not ideal) at 150" wide with no screen door or rainbow effects with great image quality..it was like a 150" tv (as long as the room is dark)....plays in 3d ..great for gaming and/or tv watching..great bulb life...1080p ...good reviews ..and relatively cheap (for being 3d and its features)
When i bought it 2 years ago i did quite a bit of research and it was by far best bang for the buck...not sure about technology / prices for this stuff since...btw i got mine for 750 so u could get a better deal elsewhere
