Starting today, we're changing the way we're asking people to pay for news online, switching to a "metered model." That will provide nonsubscribers 10 free stories a month, allowing them to sample a wide assortment of our content – and to share it with their friends. As journalism evolves, we are counting on new readers to learn how much The Courant has to offer.

This new model replaces our old digital subscription model. Under what we called the "Premium" model, some stories – those marked with a blue icon – were designated as "premium" and required payment, while others were free.

Aside from the disappearance of the blue icons, those who are already subscribers to our Unlimited Digital Access will notice little difference. You will still have seamless access to our all great stories, photo galleries and our e-newspaper. It's a tremendous value for anyone who wants to keep up with the latest going on in the community.

For nonsubscribers, after viewing your 10 free stories each month you will be asked to choose one of our subscription offers.

as long as my canary has something to on and I have something to wrap my mackeral in, then it's all good Mr. Courant.

FYI if you turn on "private browsing" it doesn't count the articles you've read

As long as the Courant keeps limiting access it will continue to be irrelevant
