Over the weekend I attended the hall of fame classic at mohegan sun and had a very good time watching the games there.
During the ODU UK game I ended up sitting behind the UK bench right next to Coach Cal's daughter. My friend that was a UK fan recognized her and we started talking to her and her friends.
She was very nice overall, but when she heard I was from CT and liked UCONN she went on to say how she hates uconn and our coach and that she would never root for us. I said thanks thats fine, we will take the titles. She had nothing to say back to that, because there is simply nothing you can say to that. I told her UK is def good this yr just to smooth things over, but it wasn't a contentious interaction at all and we had a good time sitting with them behind the bench. I was happy I said what I said.
I found it very interesting how she immediately said she hated uconn and calhoun.
I was wondering can anyone actually explain to me how the beef betweeen calipari and calhoun started? It is obvious her opinion on the matter comes from her Dad.
Also, I was walking around the casino after the games and ran into world wide wes. He was sitting front and center at both UK games. Anyways, when we walked by him I pretended to be a UK fan and said go cats, he proceeded to say oh yess, I bleed kentucky blue. Just though that was a funny statement coming from a registered sports agent. IMHO there has got to be something fishy going on between Cal and Wes.
Rondo was at the game today and he got a nice ovation from the crowd when he left towards the end of the game.
A group of UK fans asked me to snap a picture of them so I did and said "1...2...3....say UCONN"
They did not find it funny and one of them called me a D***, but I could care less, it was fun to mess with the UK fans.
On a side note, I know the big east has not looked so great against other conferences so far this yr, but the loss by USF to penn state would not have happened if Gilcrest had played. I think with him in the line up they looked pretty good and that game def changed with him missing it.
