This is true. Property values are holding especially in Fairfield County. Problem is that property taxes are through the roof. State and local governments are in dire need of revenue to make up shortfalls. That means taxes will continue to rise. Malloy seems desperate at this point to bring in more revenue. The bipartisan state budget that was passed last fall was a good first step. That will help. But there is a problem with business and residents are bolting the state. There really is no incentive at this point for them to stay. That needs to be adressed and fixed. If United Technologies relocates out of state (and that's not out of the realm of possibility) a lot of jobs will be lost. CT needs to be a business friendly sate again. Even the state of NY has a program for businesses that relocate there won't pay any taxes for ten years. That's a great program that CT needs to emulate. I don't what can be done to bring back cities like Bridgeport and Waterbury. I hope they are not too far gone at this point. And it's true, the development taking place in South Carolina is unbelievable. I live in Greenville and it is booming. I just hope it doesn't become as big as Charlotte. CT can become a great state again but drastic changes are needed. The tolls that are being considered is not a bad idea because it will collect a lot of money from people out of state as they cross into CT. But if Malloy is successful in getting the congestion toll enacted people will not tolerate that. Last summer he was talking about mandating that devices be put in everyone's car to they can be taxed by the mile. That is beyond dumb too.
