If you're in glastonbury, it's the best in the area. Nothing touches the Pepe's in NH. The one at the casino is fine, but commercialized.
Glastonbury is loaded with good pizza places. Luna probably isn't even the best in town. Harry's is better, but pricey. Giovanni's is good and as much as I hate to admit it, Angelo's (Greek Pizza) is very good.

Nothing in glastonbury is Pepesque, but there are plenty of good options in town.

Pepe's is overrated.

I'm supposed to meet my mother and some other family who are traveling through the state and we picked the Glastonbury area as sort of central. We are meeting for some lunch or that is sort of the loose plan. Anything unique, interesting and good in that area that anyone could recommend? I'm over on the NY border so I'm not familiar with that area. Thanks!

First and Last Tavern off Main St. in the center of town is also very good. Also Piatti Ristoranti on Hebron Ave has a nice outdoor patio and a good basic menu pizza, burgers, pasta, sandwiches.

I wasn't really into Giovanni's. Is that the place across the street from Luna?

So, I say this sheepishly after all of the good advice regarding Glastonbury, my traveling part of the family that I am meeting has decided they would rather meet on the coast. The Glastonbury decision was based on a second visit up near Hartford that is no longer happening. So, as a result we are meeting in Old Saybrook instead. We are going to either The Back Porch or Otter Cove it would appear in Old Saybrook.
Thanks to everyone who gave the Glastonbury advice. There seems to be a lot of great spots there and I have kept note of them so in the future I will have that information.

Just go to the intersection of Hebron Ave and New London Tnpke. Tons of great places all listed here already. Great outdoor seating. I vote Spicy Green Bean or Giovanni's. If you have time get ice cream at Robb's Farm. Off the beaten path a bit but it's delicious and they have cool UConn memorabilia.

Edit: I should read the whole thread before posting.
