"Leading into the draft, word spread that Smith was preoccupied with his cell phone during pre-draft visits, texting friends and checking Twitter during meetings with team officials, as first reported by Yahoo! Sports."

There was a report on bloomberg about college grads doing the exact same thing in interviews.

Year in year out we put nothing but solid players in the NFL who have nothing but good character, and play their ass' out of the wall it makes me glad to be a season ticket holder.

This is becoming the norm rather than exception. Smartphones are changing everything. It struck me that I am really changing as a result and it isn't all my fault.

On Thursday I was meeting with a client when I started getting repeated texts, calls and emails from my partners asking me a question. It became obvious that they were not going to accept my ignoring them because they were under time constraints. I proceeded to answer their questions via text while occasionally looking up at my client as we talked. This guy is probably 75 years old but still works and is quite wealthy so he is a little "young" for 75.

As I finished sending my messages, I was relieved that the old codger hadn't scolded me. As I refocused my attention on him, he pulls out his iPhone and starts doing the exact same thing!

This is why the NFL loves our players. Because they ain't like Geno Smith!

Good luck, Jets! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Given the amount of time I've spent watching NY sports, I would council new athletes to keep as low a profile as possible, and to say all the right things. This kid already has the sharks circling, and he hasn't even arrived. This is probably the Jet's annual mess in waiting.

Eh. I will give Smith the benefit of the doubt on this. If he is a primadonna or an aloof player it will be evident soon enough.

Those reports could be from bitter people, teams trying to drop his stock, or just a smear campaign.

I love the Jets. The Butt Fumble actually eclipsed DanO running through the back of the end zone.
