3. Just a guess for this - 13?

1. Dimitri Mendeleev, a Russki chemist, created the periodic table of elements ordered by relative atomic mass. He also determined the atomic mass of the missing elements and their properties. When a new element was discovered, lo and behold, it possessed the atomic mass and properties as predicted by Mendeleev.

2. The "Flight to Varennes" was a failed escape by Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette from the increasing violence of the French Revolution.

5. I know nothing of soccer except two names, Ronaldo and Messi. I guess Ronaldo is the correct answer.

7. OMG! I know a music question!!! “Memories are Made of This” was sung by lots of people but none better than Dean Martin.

11. James J. Braddock

13. Other than the obvious a woman employed to clean house; THE Charwoman was Carol Burnett.

1..Mendeleev identified some patterns of behavior in the elements, which led to the first version of the periodic table.

3..Ten provinces, three territories.

5..Nobody, Abby Wambach has 184. I believe she scored more than 109 just with her head. Oh, you're probably talking MEN's soccer.

12..Community baths (thanks to my daughter, the nipponophile).

13..The charwoman was the main character in Lord Dunsany's "The Charwoman's Shadow." A charwoman is a cleaning woman.

1..Knights starts 4 describing the chemist and periodic table,
I just love it when VAUC goes WAGging.

2..Game & SVC report that the revolutionaries simply followed the trail of cake crumbs.

3..Big with the wherewithal to specify each. K9 observes that the Canadians, following China's tactics, filled in some atolls to give themselves 4 more territories.

4..How many Bama fans know this? One anyway.

5..You wouldn't expect an Iranian, would you? Ali Daei.

6..Lt. Edith Greenwood

7..SVC still hyperventilating over his serendipitous light bulb. Drive on board too.

8..Well, you'd expect the Knighted to know English history, no?

9..If a narrow waterway had on less "n".

10..Well, it was Henry Hudson's 3rd and last ship. Then what happened?

11..VAUC, taking a WAGging break; SVC types, despite his petit mal.

12..Big on good terms with his daughter. I wonder how she'd do with questions on Mongolia?

13..Cleaning lady, maid will do, as 4 so write.

You missed 4; you can salvage 2.

I shall mow before getting to part "B" I'll be very sweaty, when I next type.

10. Henry Hudson was set adrift in what I suppose they now call Hudson's Bay - or somewhere up there, anyhow. The crew mutinied because they were not finding a Northwest Passage, IIRC, I may not. In any case, I certainly didn't know the name of the ship. I do know that was the end of Hendrik.
