Not so fondly! Back then while taking a shortcut back to my hotel room in Cincinnati I realized I was being followed by 20-25 men while people on their porches were saying no good and honky. To their surprise and my relief I was one white man who could run really fast. I am sure adrenaline had much to do with my fleetness that evening. A couple of years later while watching the play "If you want to dance you have to pay the band" I learned the meaning of honky. A week later while I was in Cleveland this same Cincinnati neighborhood was one huge conflagration. A fellow worker and friend who knew of my Cincinnati experience and my penchant for going where my safety was at risk finally got through to me by saying; "My God, SVC I don't even go into those areas and I'm black!"
