Now that I revealed my weird food dish, we forge on here.

No research; no reprinting questions please.

1..The Leffey River flows through what capital?

2..About how many ant species have been discovered?

3..With Celiac disease, what does one avoid?

4.."____ __ _____, I adore you, right from the night I first saw you." Whose hit?

5..What is the only gem ever found in a meteorite?

6..Kay Keiser, 40's band leader, plays a song that immortalizes an abstraction(?).

7..RIP Cochise & Kang.

8,,Fred Gwynne combines with whom for "Car 54"?

9..The year the NBA is founded?

10..Only one Asian nation(?) actively courts gay tourists.

11..Old ____ ____ Porter.

12..Origin of "Dead Man's Hand"?

13..Long ago comic--The Adventures of S_____' J___.

3 - gluten. Becoming very prevalent and many restaurants have gluten free menus. One friend who has the disease discovered it after becoming ill eating Twizzlers - who knew?
12 - the poker hand Wild Bill Hickcock? was holding when he was shot dead from behind

8. I have to answer this one. I live in the NYC apartment where Fred Gwynne and his wife lived in the 1980s. It has 12-foot ceilings, which are especially appropriate for a man as tall as Fred. I never met him, but long-time residents of the building say he was a wonderful person - friendly and down to earth.
Anyway, the answer is Joe E. Ross.

1. Dublin - and it's spelled Liffey
4. Lady of Spain
7. Michael Ansara
8. Joe E. Ross
9. 1947 ???
12. Comes from the poker hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when Jack McCall put a bullet in the back of his head in Deadwood. Aces and Eights

2.. 4,317 ;^)
3.. Wheat
4.. Lady of Spain. Mine. First song I played on the accordian.
5.. diamond
8.. Gunther Tootie
9.. 1946
10..Korea
12..Aces & eights. Held by Bill Hickock when he was gunned down from behind

12. covered pretty well, so I'll just add a bit. Supposedly, he always played with his back to the wall, facing the doorway. On one of the rare occasions when he did not do so, he was killed as mentioned previously, holding two pair, aces and eights.

3. gluten
10. Gonna guess S. Korea.

1..Dublin

3..Gluten

5..Diamond

10..Thailand

12..Bill Hickock's hand when he was shot, aces and eights

1..When geordi and I were in grammar school together, I always outspelled him, but he
was superior on waterways, and he's proved it again. Anyway, he, K9 & hoop type "Dublin".

2..JR, a typical underestimater, gives it a shot, but he's off by nearly 11,000.

3..Knight starts 5 of you with gluten, reminding me of my 2 year old daughter, who would tell strangers, "I can have no wheat."

4..JR, grown tired of "Lady of Spain", switched to the kazoo. I don't know if geordi plays anything, for he's very busy learning about waterways. BTW it was Eddie Fisher.

5..It's the birthstone for August. Does that help?

6..And Norman Rockwell put her on the Sat Eve Post.

7..Michael Ansara, geordi here.

8..Rbny's iding ambition of doing a ride-along in Car 54 was always thwarted by Fred
hiding whenever he saw him coming. Still, he swallows his pride to give us Joe B. Ross.
Geordi, however, does not reveal any links.

Just being protective about my Irish heritage. You never know when someone will badmouth Guinness.

9..1949

10..A Buddhist nation in SE Asia, hoop picks Thailand.

12..Tons of you here. See e.g. Pinot, one poster who always has his back to the wall,
since he needs the spine support.

11..I'm sorely aggrieved with you for not getting Old King Cole Porter.

13..Another surprise, indicative of you old-timers' memory loss.
How 'bout I give you S_____' Jack.

That's enough hint --> 13. Smilin' Jack

P.S. I only know that because Mad Magazine published a mini-book that was completely a parody of a Smilin' Jack adventure. Even I'm not old enough to have read it in the original.

JR's lips are ear 2 ear with this find. Now, 5 & 6 please.
