Actually, it is no longer officially called the Freedom Tower even though that name is still used by many people. The name was officially changed last year to 1 World Trade Center.

Here's a quote from the New York Times last September: "The central skyscraper, 1 World Trade Center, formerly known as the Freedom Tower, has reached its full height and is expected to open early in 2014."

Not just "people", for I got this in a contemporary newspaper. Oh well.
