10. I'll go with Filmore. The trick is obviously that Pierce took office in early March of 1853. But he was elected in November, same as now. Still, for Perry to get there, etc. I'll stick to Millard.

12. Based on your hint, Van Gogh painted a famous portrait of Dr. Gachet, so I'm guessing that Marguerite is Dr. Gachet's wife or daughter and Van Gogh painted her as well.
