Out of college I was hired by IBM. They sent all newly hired systems engineers en mass to Endicott, NY for training. At a mass get to know you lunch I sat at the end of a table. Across from me were two new friends from Florida and Alabama. To my left sat a fellow whose name I never understood. He began to speak soley to me for the entire lunch. I had no idea what he was saying, not a single word. My two friends tatolly enjoyed my discomfort as I smiled and nodded trying to reflect the appropriate facial expressions and gestures. Our "conversation" was agony. Fianlly after the lunch I said to my new friends I thought this training was just for systems engineers from the USA and Canada. They became hysterical. They asked me had I never met a cajun before? Later in life I was teamed with a cajun from whom I learned the "language."
