8. I believe we're referencing his song "Moon Shadow" (great tune, by the way), and IIRC, in the song he postulates about losing his eyes, mouth, and arms. When he loses his eyes, he won't have to cry no more, his mouth, he won't have to talk no more, and his arms (or, maybe hands), he won't have to work no more.

Ruffian, it's too early to wonder about credit. That comes later. Magwitch is not Pip's caregiver and not the source of embarrassment. Perhaps a source of disappointment that Mag's beneficence wasn't from Miss Havesham.
