13..In what organization does one find bobcat, wolf and bear ranks?

In conversing with Nan, our esteemed hostess, I learned that she too experienced an
"error" in posting, that could be due to new limits on the size of posts.
To protect against this, I shall post question and answer sheets in 2 parts.
Expect part 2 shortly.

1. Former USSR republic, Georgia, is still objecting to Russia’s entry into the WTO. However, I believe it is more political then economic. Revenge may play a roll, since Georgia and Russia fought, literally, over the Georgian republic South Ossetia and its independence.
2. He is the 3rd cousin to the comedian George Lopez.
3. Ohio
4. Hound Dog (biggest two-sided hit ever) Upink is in the building! :D
5. "Fracking" or hydraulic fracturing creates fractures in gas laden shale thus allowing the gas to flow and be pumped out. Water, sand, and “special additives” (point of contention) are forced into the shale causing fractures. The sand holds open the fractures allowing access to the gas. Horizontal drilling is usually associated with this process.

18. Teach your Children; I believe Upink but it seems like a strange song for C, S, N, & Y.
20. Die
22. She’s always a Woman by Billy Joel (It is nice living with a music encyclopedia! You cannot imagine how many bets I have won with her music memory. It is so hard to find takers for information technology bets. Just no market!) :)

WC - I certainly qualify as old, and I've played lots of Pinochle (I think I put a firends kid through college on my losses) but your reference to a pinochle book escapes me.

Well, VTC, it is a widely used synonym for "run" and "family".

WC - That's no help. :( The term "family" as it relates to pinochle is also foreign to me. It may be a regional thing. My pinochle experience is mostly 3 hand cut throat, double deck, although I have played single deck and four handed partner. I can't remember ever hearing the terms "book" or "family".

You say it's no help, but I'm not clear if "run" strikes a chord.

About pinochle, I learned the game from my NJ family, where we used all 3 terms. In Florida I play with a woman from Mich. and a Southern gentleman, and they also use all 3 terms. Tell me, VTC & NCor, what is your term for having at least one of each member of a suit(except the 9)?

A run is a run is a run. I've never heard it called anything else. I learned the game as a kid playing single deck and I have played a ton of double deck with guys from all over the country.

This is the only glossary of Pinochle terms that I could find with Google. It contains no family or book. However, WIKI lists family, flush, rope and book as synonyms for run so I'll concede the point.
