Is he? Doesn't seem like he has lived up to the hype after Bobby left.

Losing their QB Francois was devastating. With him, gave Bama 2nd closest game of season.

Now they need to go 4-1 down the stretch to be bowl eligible, and that includes games against Clemson, NC St, and Florida.

I didn't question his ability or his accomplishments...more like the pressure of living up to his past successes broke him a bit today...and having a bit of fun with that FSU shill @billybud . But what ever floats your boat there @JMick ...I see you have fully embraced the smart a** millennial attitude and carry that flag proudly.

lolwut. he has a national championship +2 BCS bowl wins, three conference championships and a playoff appearance all since 2010

For what they should do with those recruiting classes the last 4 years.... it's been disappointing since 2013. The shine has rubbed off that championship and they are no longer feared as a team.

Jimbo Fisher is conservatively a top 10 coach and arguably a top 5 coach in college football. Name me 10 better coaches than Jimbo Fisher

It's such a hard thing to evaluate because there is such a disparity in recruiting talent from program to program. In other words, I'm guessing Frank Beamer would do just as well as Jimbo with the same level roster.

I'm not willing to say Fisher is a bum, because he's clearly not one. Way too accomplished to be a bum. But I'm also not sure I could say top 10...

Ability to recruit is a top two or three item in a coaches qualifications.

The competition has increased dramatically for Fisher. He has to deal with Dabo at Clemson and Richt at Miami now. He's not going to get all the players that he was once getting, although Florida looks like a bit of a wreck right now, so that may balance it out some. He's really blown it when it comes to offensive line recruiting though and it's killing their quarterbacks, and their team as a result. It's all served to create a situation where the guy is feeling some real pressure for the first time in awhile, and he's losing it a bit.

If you ask me, Mike Leach is the best coach in football. I could listen to his pressers all day long

If you can't say he's top 10 then name 10 better coaches.

I said I wasn't sure I could say he was top 10.

But for argument's sake, let's give this a try. Folks I would likely hire before Jimbo Fisher:

B1G
1) Urban Meyer
2) Jim Harbaugh
3) Paul Cryst
4) James Franklin (although he's a jerk and I would consider not taking him also)

PAC12
1) Mike Leach
2) Chris Peterson
3) possibly David Shaw

ACC
1) Dabo Swinney
2) Mark Richt

Big12
1) Tom Herman
2) Mike Gundy
3) Gary Patterson
4) Dana Holgorsen (possibly)

SEC
1) Nick Saban
2) Dan Mullen (possibly)
3) Brett Bielema

There's 16 legitimate names in my opinion of people that I would hire before Jimbo Fisher, and I haven't even covered folks like Doeren, etc., who I would also consider. Petrino is probably a better coach also, although I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. I also wouldn't touch Brian Kelly, but there is no doubt that he has been successful at every stop he's been at.

So....yeah....I'm not sure I can say top 10...

A bunch of these dues are retired... and Brett Bielema? seriously? or Richt? His recruiting classes were just as good and he couldn't get over the hump. Tom Herman has done nothing so far to even compare to Jimbo Fisher

My bad on Stoops. Yes, he's gone. Who else is gone?

Frank Beamer retired a couple of years ago. VT's coach is Justin Fuente.

I've taken out Stoops and Beamer. Beamer's an AD.

Yup. I tried not to include Fuente or Rhule in the list, although I did include Herman. Including Fuente would have woken me up. I wouldn't hire Rhule ahead of Fisher anyways.

Again, the point was that I'm not sure he's top 10, and now that I've named about 17 or so coaches that I would take ahead of Fisher, I'm more confident that he's not...

You're crazy if you'd take anyone besides Saban, Dabo, Meyer, Patterson or Harbaugh over Jimbo.

You think that Richt not getting over the hump MIGHT have had something to do with playing in the SEC??? My goodness. How's he doing in the ACC now?

Here's the thing; you can try to pick apart any one of the people I've listed. That's fine. Doesn't change the fact that it's not clear he's a top 10 coach. Why don't you be brave enough and give me YOUR top 15 coaches, and then you can let the crowd pick you apart too... ;)
