I used to work with a close friend who was a VT Football student manager. Said everyone loved Beamer for all he's done down there, he did basically build that program out of nothing. It has gotten a bit awkward he's becoming a senile old man. I don't think he listens to his assistants, nor the administration. They would love for him to resign on his own terms, but don't know if that will happen. It might be similar to how Bowden left FSU. Still they should have made Bud Foster the head coach years ago. I'm really surprised hes stuck around so long.

Beamer is JoePa without the s e x scandal. And I think there's a reason Foster has hung around there as long as he has.

Funny that I got killed on this board for blasting Diaco when he said essentially the same thing last year.

Ding, Ding, Ding....

22 posts before that correlation came up... little did we realize it would extend beyond the four OOC games.

Boneyard is slipping.;)

I really hope that another JoePa scandal doesn't emerge out of VT years down the road. A senile aging old man who the game has completely left behind won't relinquish control of the program, thus burying it in a decade of mediocrity. There is no reason that VT can't be ACC contenders every year with their facilities, fanbase and recruiting territory. Yet, they always seem to struggle to win 6-7 games a season (mostly from talent disparity that they have over many other ACC rosters).

I was thinking the same thing and made the correlation between Joe Pa (Also thought about PP)

On one hand you have Diaco's tear down/rebuild scenario which involved brand new processes, schemes and getting young players reps and on the other hand and old time coach making a bone head statement after a G5 loss that he probably would want to take back. Based on the UCONN's improvement this year, it appears that Diaco's modus operandi is working.

Or, he could've accomplished everything he has without sacrificing an entire season. Unless of course you believe that Diaco's way was the only way possible to accomplish that goal. I don't subscribe to that.

How would beating Duke not be a good win?

Little goals for sure have been accomplished but Diaco would be the first one to tell you that UCONN is no where near done in the development process and has much bigger goals. Be encouraged thus far by the two wins and the tremendous effort that was expended against both Missouri and an exceptional Navy team. These guys are getting better all the time. Navy's coach, Ken Niumatalolo said Diaco was doing a great job with the program at UCONN but don't let his good looks fool you, Diaco is a tough guy!
