Was called up to the big leagues. Times are well in the kingdom!

Astros purchased the contract of OF George Springer from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

News broke late Tuesday night that Springer was getting a promotion, and now the move is official. The top prospect has hit .353 with three homers, nine RBI and four stolen bases in his first 13 contests for Oklahoma City this season after batting .303/.411/.600 with 37 longballs and 45 steals last year. He'll play every day -- likely in right field -- and needs to be owned in all fantasy formats.

For those who didn't pay attention to him at UConn, he had ridiculous speed, power, and he once did this - bases loaded, 2 outs, down 3-2 in the eighth inning of a Super Regional:

Vic Wertz was even impressed.

already got him on my fantasy team. with any luck he'll be a keeper next 3 years.

Loved the kid when he was at UCONN....everyone that interacted with the kid had nothing but glowing reviews about his character and personality. Kid is a legit 5 tool player. Happy for him and his family that he finally will get his chance to shine!

And his Dad is now running to be on the Board of Directors at UConn (he is a UConn grad as well).

What a grab. We got a tough draw. Won in regionals vs. Clemson but put up a fight vs. eventually CWS Champs, South Carolina. If we had a different draw I'm convinced we could've made it to Omaha.

I own him in 2 of my 5 fantasy leagues (the other 3 have a Minor League component that I could not own him in). Drafted him VERY late too. Kind of the potential power/speed combo that can help fill out fantasy rosters for all you fantasy geeks out there!

Haha. I'm doing baseball fantasy for the first time, with a crew I played NBA with. Picked springer last since it said he might be the best minor leaguer this year. Had no idea until this morning that he's a UConn alum, glad I didn't know because I would have drafted him much earlier. He's likely to be a keeper for me too!
