140 million dollars. SB Nation has some really good websites. The dedication of some of the bloggers is hard to believe.

How is it possibly worth 140 million dollars? Internet advertising seems worthless - everything I read on their network is via RSS or on a browser with adblock. Where does the revenue come from?

What exactly is SB Nation?

Exactly. It's a network of fan websites. Every Day Should Be Saturday being the biggest CFB board.

Stuff like Big East Coast Bias and The UConn Blog.

Amazing something like that could reach such a dollar value. Goes to show what a great idea is worth I guess.

I am pretty sure I saw Tom and Fishy on Wall St last week talking to a few guys from some big venture capital firm.

I think they are in the quiet period that comes before an IPO. Trying to get a confirmation from MHver3.

i am in your boat as well. very interested in whats really going on with it. the trend seems to be that scout is slowly trying to build under the fox wing and 247 is climbing quick. rivals and espn have both improved a lot recently also. there seems to be a huge market and a lot of $ pumping these sites. i think 1 of espn or scout is going to start buying and combining things son to kill off competition and also put out the best product. could u imagine if espn bought rivals and sb nation so every team had a huge umbrella under espn where it cornered the fanbase and everything media wise involved? i think that may be a end gaol in all of this.

At some point, Yahoo decided it had to have Rivals and Fox decided it had to have Scout. I am sure both companies would love to have their money back. In terms of their impact on their parent companies, they're not even rounding errors. They are very, very, very small fish, maybe even plankton, in a large ocean.

I think SB Nation is an order of magnitude different.

There are websites that show an estimated value of any other site. The last I checked, The Boneyard was worth between $2,000 and $64,000 and Syracusefan.com was worth between $1,000 and $12,000.

Syracusefan.com:

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/syracusefan.com. $9,000

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/syracusefan.com $12,000

The Boneyard:

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/the-boneyard.com $20,000

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/The-boneyard.com $64,000

SB Nation:

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/sbnation.com. 1.3 million

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/Sbnation. $9 million

Scout.com:

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/scout.com $1.8 million

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/Scout.com. $13 million

Rivals.cm - $15 million:

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/rivals.com. $2.3 million

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/Scout.com $15 million

And to put these numbers into perspective, the site which says the boneyard is word $64 k, also says MySpace.com is valued at $120 million:

http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/MySpace.com. $120 million

http://web.oovoo.tv/site/myspace.com $21 million

And if you want a reality check, search worthofweb for youcorn.com or cornhub.com, and see what the free corn industry makes. Just don't do it at work ... It ain't corn you really need to search for :)

Someone should tell Delany what our website is worth. This could put us over the top and into the B1G.

UConn fans are worth more than Syracuse fans. Cool.

Traffic here is 50% higher than Syracusefan.com. This is mostly due to our women's basketball board, which has been growing at a rate far greater than all other boards, here or at Syracusefan.com.

The Cuse fans were catching up at one point with their Bernie Fine board. But I hear that Wetzel's Fine article really put a damper on things.

Conspiracy Kitty says:
So the value of the site is increased by more visits? Why Conference Realignment alone should be worth a fortune then. Coach P is an invaluable asset! It is obvious that Herbst and Manual are in league with Fishy and Tom to pump up the value of the site. That's why they turned down the ACC invite...twice! That's why P still has a job! It's all so clear!

J'accuse! For shame gentlemen, for shame.
