OT: Fanta to NBC | The Boneyard

OT: Fanta to NBC

Happy for Fanta but this is brutal as a fan. Plus, what are we going to need for next year - how many streaming services? ESPN, NBC, FOX, and CBS? What am I forgetting?
Hulu live, and Peacock should get the job done. YouTube TV and Peacock will as well, but Hulu live has a bundle that includes ESPN+ for 83/mo.

YTTV just sent out an email that said...

In order to provide you with the best in live sports, news, and entertainment, YouTube TV enters into partnerships with content providers like Fox. Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date, and we are in active negotiations to continue carrying their content. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides, as well as our subscribers.

We want to be transparent about these discussions: if we are unable to reach an agreement with Fox by August 27, 2025, their content may become unavailable. If this happens, this will impact channels like the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports, as well as any Library recordings you have from these channels.

We know how frustrating it is to lose channels, which is why it’s our goal to keep Fox on YouTube TV. We’re committed to continuing to work with Fox to reach an agreement, but if their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we'll offer our subscribers a $10 credit.

If Fox becomes unavailable, you can continue to watch their sports, news, and shows by signing up for
Fox One. For more information on the impact to our Spanish Plus, 4K, Sports Plus, and Fox Nation add-ons, please visit our Help Center.

At least I won't be thinking of this everyone I hear his name.

Good for John. Assuming this is a pay increase and upgrade in responsibility. I think John is a shining example that in Sports media it pays to be genuinely likable (yes there are some major exceptions).

With "genuinely" being the functional word.
Fanta loves college sports and genuinely loves talking about them.

On the train in to MSG for the BET he hopped into a conversation I was having about UConn. He thought a point that was made was a good one and he hopped in (unsolicited) to amplify it and then stayed in to talk about Connecticut about the big east about the big east tournament, etc. and did it without any pretense or formality. Basically, he just shot the sh.it for a while. He had insights into the men's team and women's team. It's that energy, in my opinion, that makes him so effective and so likable.

Fanta is living the(his) dream .Congrats to him. Always putting in the good word for UConn/Storrs/Hurley and his guys/BE. Love his prep and enthusiasm for CBB.

Just another pretty face..........I still remember the first few times I saw him on broadcasts. He dressed and looked like the weekend anchor on a small TV station in Maine. Not the suave former athlete, etc. you typically see on the major networks.

Turns out he was, and is, living proof that your knowledge, enthusiasm and love of what you're doing translates to success in whatever you choose to do.

Very happy for him and hope to see him grow and develop even more.

P.S. It just may be NBC is getting ready for UConn's move to P4 and wants a guy with insights to lead their future broadcasts of both our basketball and football games.....
