OT - Fab Melo academically ineligible?

'Cuse board seems to think so. Apparently could miss anywhere from 2 games to the rest of the season.
 
It's all over twitter as well ... but seems no one knows.
 
Just went over and checked out the Syracuse board. It seems like a couple well-connected people say that Melo is out for at least a couple games, but there's also a lot of uncertainty around the whole situation. Also, there are rumors that one of their reserves, Mookie Jones, has been kicked of the team, some citing his potential involvement in a fight of some sort.

If these rumors are true, that's a pretty big blow to Syracuse. I know Fab Melo was awful last year, but he really has improved a lot this year and is an important part of that team.
 
Highly unlikely at this time of year.

My hunch is that they would chew their own legs off before they'd deactivate a player there.

I would think it unlikely as well, as I thought the second semester for sports began immediately following the conclusion of the first semester. However, is it possible that it doesn't take effect until spring semester classes begin? That would make this game the first game of the second semester for Syracuse.

It could be similar to the Wolf situation, where he is waiting on a grade (possibly an incomplete) before he is allowed to play again. The timing of the Wolf situation is what makes me believe this to be possible.

Even if he is out SU should have no problem with ND. Cincy on Monday might be a closer game but he wouldn't do much against Gates anyway.
 
Nothing quite like watching a Cuse fan meltdown on their boards. Hard to say which fan base melts down harder when the shit hits the fan but they are neck and neck with Louisville fans right now.

OK I admit it. Working with a bunch of their fans and having put up with their crap for this college basketball year I must admit I am enjoying them squirm with these rumors.

Best case scenario, Boatright and Fab are both back by the time we play Cuse. But if Boat is out, I hope Fab is out too.

The incident to which you referred was merely the last straw - in her complaint, his girlfriend reported past instance(s) of physical abuse and intimidation. I believe her story was corroborated.

Did the NCAA say it was going to drop everything to resolve this thing with Melo? I think there will be an NCAA kiosk inside the Carrier Dome just until this situation gets resolved.
