How is that "the way America will get wired" when the entire plan relies on Comcast utilizing the existing infrastructure that you paid to be brought into you home (cable line + WAP) and then piggybacking a new public SSID on the hardware?

It reads like the way America will get wired is the way America is already wired. Nothing revolutionary here beyond allowing Comcast to leverage the distribution of their subscribers to extend their WiFi presence.

I'm not even convinced they'll implement it properly. If I were a subscriber, I'd want to see monthly credit for the privilege of letting them run a public WAP at my house at no benefit to me.

Will I be able to drop my $50/month plan and piggyback off of my 4-5 neighbors connection? If not then who benefits from the extra bandwidth (i.e. hot spots) created? I don't have any emergencies where I live.

Comcast is a garbage company. Google will monopolize the internet industry with their new Google Fiber internet. Them and FioS.
